Zhang Yimou is at it again, staging Puccini’s final opera “Turandot” to fill the Birds’ Nest for an October 6 show commemorating — what else — the PRC’s 60th anniversary as a state.
Just in case you though that Italian opera was making the CCP soft, Shanghai Daily reports the cultural news below a photo of a paramilitary cop forcing a “terrorist” out of a car.
Apparently they didn’t want to stage Tan Dun’s “First Emperor,” the Met’s recent staging about the tyrannical Qin Shihuangdi.
